Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has strongly objected to any agreement between India and China involving the Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh, and Kalapani areas east of the Mahakali River without Nepal's participation. Speaking during a meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Thapa stressed that such an agreement would be “unacceptable” to Nepal.

Thapa clarified that this issue should not be turned into an internal political debate nor used to display extreme nationalism. Instead, he urged unity among all political parties to send a firm and collective message to both India and China that any attempt to include Nepal’s territory in a bilateral arrangement is intolerable.

“All political parties in Nepal should come together on this matter. We stood united yesterday; we will have to stand united today too,” Thapa said. “Let none of us make this a domestic political issue. We will not turn to extreme nationalism, but we will firmly oppose any encroachment on our land.”

Thapa emphasized that the role of Nepal's political leadership is to safeguard sovereignty without compromising diplomatic balance. He reiterated that Nepali parties should speak with one voice, signaling that setting eyes on Nepalese land is unacceptable.

In addition, Thapa acknowledged that another Nepali Congress General Secretary, Bishwo Prakash Sharma, has already sent a six-point suggestion to the government, urging it to take strong diplomatic measures against the agreement.
